Build up and Edify the Body of Christ
Being edified means to be encouraged, to make to feel better, or to have a more positive attitude. In another words;
- "Edify: enlighten, to improve the morals or knowledge of somebody."
- "Edify: to instruct or improve spiritually."
Does this surprise you? Do you think of being instructed as edification? Do you think of gaining new knowledge when you are edified? In the New Testament, the word is often used metaphorically for imparting wisdom to another person. That is, instructing another person with words that can be understood and applied to life.
Key Verses:
Colossians 3:14 - And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Ephesians 2:19-22 - Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.
